JOHN THOMAS WOODS AGE: 72 HOLMDEL John Thomas Woods, 72, of Holmdel, died Friday, March 12, 2010 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born and raised in Manhattan, he later moved to Bergenfield to raise his family and then to Holmdel to live closer to his grown children. He had a long and successful career with Chase Manhattan Bank, where he not only carved a professional legacy for himself with his charm and skills, but made lasting friendships that he treasured and enjoyed for the rest of his life. His New York City roots led to his eternal love for the New York Yankees, especially in the days of Thurman Munson, Lou Pinella, and Graig Nettles. He loved old classic movies and was a master at all things trivia - including always reminding us of Elvis's birthday and other historical events. He loved playing card games and doing crossword puzzles and always had a joke at the ready, no matter how inappropriate. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He loved the simple things in life: a good cup of coffee, spending time with his children, corned beef on rye from his favorite deli, the cowboy steak at Charlie Brown's, anything chocolate, Benson & Hedges, Sunday morning calls with his daughter Kathy, having lunch every day with his son Tom, homemade meals cooked by his daughter Joanne, smelly cheese, corned beef hash, Dewar's straight up, hearing his grandsons call him "Beep Beep" and hanging out listening to Waylon, Willie and the Boys. He always had candy in his pocket and money for the ice cream man for whenever he saw his grandchildren. His sense of humor was one-of-a-kind and he took great joy in making people laugh. Surviving are his three cherished children, Kathy Frazee and her husband Richard of Fort Myers, Fla., Joanne Bergin and her husband Tim of Toms River, and his adored son, Tom and his wife Meave of Holmdel. He is also survived by his sister, Peggy and her husband Terry of Rivervale; as well as his niece, Margaret and nephew, John. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joseph and Jake Frazee of Fort Myers, Fla., Bobby, Chris and Emmy Skrable and Liam Bergin of Toms River, Connor and John Woods, of Holmdel, and his two beautiful great-granddaughters, Cheyenne and Stephanie. Also surviving are his two best friends, Mike Kosuth and Paul Quinn. He is also survived by the love of his life, his former wife Penny of Fort Myers, Fla.
